Today, a media event was held by The Shops at Wiregrass. A bus tour of the new mall, scheduled to open on October 30th was provided and a 30 ft. high "W" was placed at the intersection of SR 56 and Bruce B. Downs.
Jim Richardson, Vice President, Development for Forest City Commercial (shown standing on the right in this photo of the bus tour), explained that the logo "W" for The Shops at Wiregrass has its inspiration from the big W formed by palm trees in the 1963 movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
Richardson also provided the following information regarding the extension of SR 56:
* They plan to begin laying asphalt by the end of this week and the extension to the new Dillards will be complete for the mall opening.
* The extension should be open to Mansfield Blvd. in Meadow Pointe by March 1st.
* The extension to Meadow Pointe Blvd. should be open by January.........2010.
Additionally, work on the massive intersection at BBD and SR 56 should start in January, 2009.

Great picture...that looks really cool. Just wish the extension to Meadow Pointe Blvd. would be done sooner. You should do a section of all the road improvements in the area. I'm curious about Z'Hills Bypass West Extension.
Right now all eyes are on SR 56, the widening of BBD, and the major change to the intersection at BBD and SR 56.
Then things should shift to the widening of SR 54. I have heard nothing in the "foreseeable" future about the Bypass.
