New Tampa's "road to nowhere"

If you ever have had to travel from Easton Park or Cory Lake Isles in New Tampa to visit someone in Meadow Pointe in Wesley Chapel, you know that you almost have to make a complete circle to get there via Cross Creek Blvd., BBD, and County Line Road.  A more direct route has been waiting for approval and connection between Kinnan Street in New Tampa (sometimes called the "road to nowhere" because it dead ends at the county line.)  and Mansfield Blvd. in Wesley Chapel.  The two roads never have been connected (See previous blog post.).

So what's the status of connecting the two roads after all these years?

According to a Pasco County Commissioner today, the connection will be revisited after the widening of SR 54 is completed and a traffic count is done.

The fact it has been drawn out this long is ridiculous. Didn't Pasco originally say the connection would be made once SR56 was extended? How much longer till SR54 is done?

I believe that they were going to consider it again when SR 56 was extended. Completion info on the widening of SR 54 is provided in the link in the blog post above.

I too REALLY hope they get this done...as someone who lives in Meadow Pointe and constantly visits friends/family in Hunter's Green and other neighborhoods off of County Line, it would save a LOT of time/gas

I would gladly pay a toll to use that connection if it were made available. $.50 per use would save me about $1.00 in gas per trip to Meadow Pointe. Connect the roads, install a SunPass reader, everyone lives happily ever after!

Unfortunately, it looks like we remain in a "wait and see" mode. I actually am surprised that the local media hasn't given this more attention.
